water had to be on your skin for you to live. people ran around with water guns and sprayed each other. cool mists were treated as a luxury, the one time you don’t have to worry about maintaining yourself, you can just relax. mineral water felt better. purified water felt empty. the ocean hurt when you stayed in it too long. there were sprinklers everywhere, but many of them were poorly maintained. in the big cities, the sprinklers didn’t run perpetually. you purchased a tap-card, and tapped for a sprinkle. you purchased a subscription at drugstores or transit authorities. the deserts were vast and empty. rain didn’t fall anymore. we took all of it.
